People are so frackin’ dumb

Most of the feedback I’ve seen for Kate Nash’s new song, ‘Underestimate The Girl’, has been negative. It seems that a lot of these ‘fans’ can’t quite see that Kate has evolved as an artist and a woman, and is following new directions. She can’t keep singing Foundations forever. If she did, these same people would probably complain that she wasn’t being fresh and exploring herself as a recording artist.

Lets face it, although ‘Made of Bricks’ was a great record, it was not Kate at her best, but that’s understandable-she was young, new to the industry and that’s where her heart lay then. I don’t get what’s so wrong about her tastes changing. She has grown, and she’s just what music needs right now, as she’s bringing back the attitudes of the riot grrrls of yester-year. Kate is a refreshing artist, who is pushing the boundaries and being an inspiration. It’s Okay to have angst, not everything is so shiny-pop.

I love her new song. It took me by surprise at first, but it reminded me of Hole and The Runaways, and all those other great women musicians. It’s a fantastic song. And people should leave it alone. Fair enough, if people don’t like it, but don’t start going on about how ‘Made of Bricks’ was a better album. Kate’s grown. She’s a much happier person now, and that’s what matters right?
